Students analyze the elements of atomic structure in terms of atomic mass unit, protons, neutrons, and isotopes. They distinguish between nuclear interactions and reactions. They describe the theory of the fission process, how it is controlled and its products. Students explain the basic elements used for reactor operation. Students also examine several methods of radioactive decay.
