Description

This course is designed to provide the dental hygiene student with the knowledge to identify specific needs of patients and factors affecting their oral health. Students will practice accommodating the needs of special needs patients and perform the precautions and procedures that must be followed to ensure proper care. The students will understand the patient’s special needs and apply this understanding in the context of the concept of total health, recognizing the special opportunities for preventative care that arise in such circumstances. PREREQUISITE: HYG214 Pharmacology; HYG215 Nitrous Oxide Sedation; HYG217 Dental Analgesics and Therapeutics; HYG219 Dental Public Health; HYG 220 Clinical Dental Hygiene III
